This characterful mansion style property built in the mid 1800’s belongs to a chain of beautiful residences on Farquhar Road within the Calthorpe Estate. Gruhe was commissioned to design an alteration to the ground floor footprint to incorporate an open plan Kitchen Dining space. The work includes repurposing some of the existing smaller spaces into ancilliary rooms while generally upgrading the whole area. A new roof covering is also proposed to sit over a large existing courtyard to create covered space for parking cars. The proposed design retains the character and existing proportions in the colours, sizes and materials in the fenestration on the frontage and rear to ensure that it will be in keeping with the existing.
